ASAE Announces Creation of ASAE ReadyMe Steering Committee

April 11, 2023

WASHINGTON— ASAE has announced that Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, will chair the ASAE ReadyMe Steering Committee. ASAE created the ReadyMe Program to fulfill the needs of association professionals seeking to expand their leadership capacity and to develop a more diverse candidate pool for association C-suite positions.

Also joining the ASAE ReadyMe Steering Committee as Founding Members are John Bode, president and CEO, Corn Refiners Association; John Bozzella, president and CEO, Alliance for Automotive Innovation; Marc Cadin, CEO, Finseca; Chuck Johnson, president and CEO, The Aluminum Association; and Scott Melville, president and CEO, Consumer Healthcare Products Association.

Founding ReadyMe Steering Committee members have made a financial commitment to help expand the reach of ReadyMe and will serve as mentors to ReadyMe participants, among other contributions.

ASAE’s ReadyMe Program formally launched last August during ASAE’s 2022 Annual Meeting & Exposition. The program provides a combination of virtual and in-person learning experiences that will build resilient and adaptable leaders by unlocking vital social skills and the career management acumen that are critical for advancement and success in the association industry. ReadyMe supports a key goal of ASAE’s strategic framework, to strengthen leadership pathways for association professionals. The online portion of participants’ ReadyMe journey is powered on the JUNOLIVE.COM platform.

“ASAE is beyond grateful to our Founding ReadyMe Steering Committee members for their commitment to ensuring the success of the ASAE ReadyMe Program and, by extension, the development of future association leaders,” said ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE. “There is a strong need for investment and community support to advance the career ascension of motivated, ambitious association professionals. I encourage other association CEOs to consider joining our founding partners by serving on the ASAE ReadyMe Steering Committee.”

“The U.S. Travel Association is excited to be an early adopter of the ReadyMe Program and a proud proponent of developing diverse association talent,” Freeman said. “I applaud Michelle and the team at ASAE for bringing this program to life and look forward to helping expand its reach across the association community.”

“We’re honored to be a founding partner with ASAE in this critically important initiative,” Cadin said. “The work that needs to be done to advance these efforts starts at the top. There are countless remarkable men and women who have helped lay the foundation for where things stand today but being bold and intentional about our actions starts with this program. The commitment shown today by all these leaders illustrates the momentum we have and how excited we are for this project and the results it will yield.”

“Soft skills are notoriously more difficult to teach than technical skills,” Bode said. “ReadyMe takes on that challenge and expands the candidate pool for association staff and leadership by helping promising candidates develop these crucial skills. It’s a winner for the association community and those we represent.”
