With a career spanning more than 20 years of association industry experience, David is a founding principal and CEO of Compass Management Solutions, an association management company based in California. A respected association executive that specializes in providing governance and strategic guidance to association Boards of Directors, David’s career in the association world began as a membership professional, including serving as the membership executive for the American Council of Engineering Companies of California and the California Restaurant Association. Prior to establishing Compass Management Solutions, David was the President and Chief Mission Officer of The Core Management Company, where he oversaw business operations while serving as the Executive Director of multiple associations groups varying in size, mission, industry and demographic. David served on the Board of Directors of the California Society of Association Executives (CalSAE) from 2016-2023, including serving as Chair of the Board from 2020-2021. Currently he serves on ASAE’s CAE Exam Review Committee, the Professional Development Committee of Association Latinos, as well as Vice President of Scholarships of the Board of the California State University Sacramento Alumni Association. David possesses a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from CSU Sacramento, a Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from ASAE, and holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Organization Management from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for Organizational Management (IOM). He was honored as the 2018-2019 CalSAE Executive of the Year, which is presented to the CEO of a member organization who has achieved success in overall contributions to CalSAE, service to professional, civic, or charitable organizations, and achievements for their organization.
