Nate Wambold has been in the association events industry for the past 12 years. Currently, he is the Director of Meetings and Conferences for the American Anthropological Association and heads the team responsible for the association’s Annual Meeting of over 6,000 attendees, as well as their portfolio of more than a dozen smaller Springtime Section Meetings.
Nate cut his teeth in associations when he began his career in 2008 with the American Society of Clinical Oncology. There he worked on their Annual Meeting with over 50,000 attendees. Next, Nate spent some time learning hotel sales and events as a conference services manager with Kimpton Hotels in Philadelphia, before returning to DC to rejoin associations as the director of meetings & events for the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. He earned his Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in May of 2016. From wrangling a-list celebrities to navigating hotel strikes and wildfires, Nate is a seasoned meetings professional who has seen almost everything.
Nate was honored to be selected as part of the 2018 ASAE NextGen Class where together with 24 other association professionals he imagined novel solutions to association challenges of the future. He currently sits on the ASAE Young Professionals Committee ensuring the young professional membership of ASAE has a voice and is heard. Additionally, he served as the Young Professional representative to the 2019 ASAE Annual Meeting Program Advisory Committee. Nate is excited to continue his involvement with the American Society of Association Executives and looks forward to pursuing his CAE designation.
