Anikia Brown is a skilled marketing and communications strategist with nine years of association management experience. Currently as the marketing and communications manager for the National League for Nursing (NLN), she supports 40,000 individual and 1,200 institutional members, comprising nursing education programs across higher education and health care. At NLN, she leads the strategic planning and execution of all marketing and communications efforts, including brand awareness, digital engagement, and supports membership recruitment, engagement and retention efforts.
Previously, she served as the Marketing Manager of the American Psychological Association (APA)’s Annual Convention, APA’s annual event that hosts over 10,000 professional and student psychologists. Prior to that, Anikia worked at the American Nurses Association (ANA) as a Senior Marketing Specialist where she provided strategic marketing and communications guidance to help develop and implement key ANA programs and initiatives.
Anikia is an active association leader and member of ASAE. She was selected as a content leader for ASAE’s 2017 Annual Meeting, the 2019 Online Seminar Series—Master Your Own Personal Brand, and as one of five Associations Now 2019 Young Professionals Blog Takeover features. Additionally, she was recognized as a 2019 ASAE NextGen Scholar, an honor that distinguishes 25 up and coming association professionals who show a strong commitment to leadership roles in association management.
Furthermore, she is also an active member of the Association for Women in Communications (AWC) where she founded the AWC Washington DC Metro Chapter and now serves as chapter President. Her commitment to advancing the association industry is evident in her ability to use her passion for marketing and communications to amplify and elevate the voice of organizations, their members, and communities they serve.
Anikia received her Bachelor’s in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing from Howard University, and a Master of Science in Public Relations Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
