Who can be a member of ASAE?

ASAE members include professionals from trade associations, professional societies, philanthropic organizations, other nonprofits, suppliers of products and services to associations, educators, government employees, and others who interact with the association industry.

Who qualifies for an Organizational Membership?

ASAE organization membership is available to associations and association management companies. It is a simplified, cost-effective way for you to provide your entire staff with the best available association management resources.

Why should my organization choose organizational membership?

An organizational membership provides a flat annual rate, it simplifies budgeting for professional development, saves time and money, and enhances organizational performance. You can also include staff located at satellite offices.

Can an organization that currently has several individual memberships switch to an organizational membership?

Yes. Contact Vanessa Gonzalez, IOM, Manager, Member Relations, for more information.

My organization does not have an organizational membership. If several of our staff are members, can we be billed at one time for all our memberships?

Unfortunately, we do not offer consolidated billing for multiple individual memberships at an organization. However, you can coordinate start dates among your colleagues so that you receive invoices at the same time. Contact Member Services for assistance.

What is the difference between Consultants and Industry Partners? Can these member types purchase an organization membership?

Consultants provide expert advice and strategic guidance to organizations, often on a project basis. Industry Partners, on the other hand, offer products, services, or solutions that support an organization's operations and goals. Consultants and Industry Partners are only eligible for individual membership.

When is my renewal date?

ASAE membership terms are on an anniversary cycle, so you or your organization will renew each year on the original join date. The membership period is for one year.

May I pay two years of membership dues at the same time?

Yes, simply note on your invoice that you are paying dues in advance.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Membership payment can be made via check, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover), and wire transfer. Make checks payable to ASAE.

When I join ASAE, am I automatically enrolled in my state or regional society of association executives (or vice versa)?

No, memberships in your state and/or regional societies are separate. ASAE encourages you to join your state or regional society to gain access to professional development and networking opportunities in your area.

I recently joined ASAE. When will my benefits begin?

Once your membership payment is received and processed, you will immediately begin receiving Associations Now and other ASAE communications. Access to all benefits will be available within 24- 48 hours.

I left my position with an organization that had an ASAE organization membership. Can I keep my membership?

Your ASAE membership will follow you, as long as you work for an association or AMC through the original renewal date. When you begin your new position, contact Member Services to update your record.

If a staff member who has a membership leaves our organization, can we transfer the membership?

Yes.  You may transfer the membership. Contact  Member Services for assistance.

I’m currently a member and unemployed. Do you help members in this situation?

We are your professional home and are here for you. We will extend your membership for six-month periods (up to two years in a lifetime) and waive your dues until you secure your next association management role. Contact Member Services to enroll in our waiver-of-dues program.

Am I eligible for Young Professional Membership?

Professionals aged 35 and under who work at trade and professional associations, philanthropic organizations, and association management companies are eligible for Young Professional Membership.

What happens to my membership if I am no longer a Young Professional during the year that I have the membership?

During the time of renewal, your membership will be transitioned to an Association Staff Professional, and the invoice will be adjusted.

Does ASAE offer a retired membership option?

Yes.  Retired Friends of ASAE membership is available to members in good standing who are transitioning to retirement and have been involved with ASAE for at least five years.

Are my ASAE membership dues tax-deductible?

ASAE dues are not deductible as a charitable contribution for U.S. federal income tax purposes but may be deductible as a business expense.    of your dues are allocated to ASAE lobbying expenses.
