Professional Development
ASAE’s varied professional development opportunities can tap individual career potential and help associations build a more skilled and knowledgeable team.
In almost any field, the most successful professionals and organizations are those committed to continuous learning and professional development. For some, that means constantly building knowledge specific to a job role. For others, it may include earning a credential or gaining leadership skills. ASAE offers a full range of professional development opportunities to fuel career growth for association professionals and high performance for the organizations that employ them.

CAE Credential
For association executive recruiters and HR directors, the Certified Association Executive credential is the hallmark of a committed association professional. Held by more than 3,000 diverse association executives across the nation, the CAE identifies professionals who demonstrate the knowledge essential to the practice of association management.
Earning and maintaining the CAE is a three-part process. Candidates must first meet eligibility requirements and submit an application. The next step is to sit for and pass the CAE exam. A candidate who has earned the credential must maintain it by fulfilling certification renewal requirements every three years.

Another route to professional development is to participate in ASAE communities and events that bring together aspiring leaders and veteran association executives. Participants gain knowledge and professional connections that can lead to new opportunities. And research by the ASAE Foundation provides a bigger picture of the pathways to leadership in associations.
