Member Update 1-14-25
Greetings ASAE Community,
Please find a few important updates from ASAE in the past few weeks:
Meeting Community Needs: L.A. Wildfires Relief Fund
The ASAE Research Foundation is raising funds from the ASAE community to assist the hundreds of thousands of residents in the greater Los Angeles community impacted by devastating wildfires. ASAE will hold its 2025 Annual Meeting & Exposition in Los Angeles August 9-12, 2025.
It’s expected that the fires may ultimately be the costliest wildfire disaster in U.S. history. Discover Los Angeles – ASAE’s partner in bringing the 2025 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition to Los Angeles this summer – has a dedicated landing page where the organization is posting regular updates, lists of business closures, and providing information about how local hotels are supporting both visitors and resident evacuees.
ASAE’s Meeting Community Needs initiative is designed to showcase the association community’s desire to do well by doing good in ASAE Annual Meeting host cities. Donations will go to support the California Fire Foundation and the Red Cross. Please support by donating today.

ASAE Launches Community Impact Coalition
Anticipating significant tax legislation in 2025, ASAE this week announced the launch of the Community Impact Coalition — a unified initiative dedicated to educating the 119th Congress about the social and economic benefits of associations, charities, and other tax-exempt organizations.
With sweeping 2017 tax breaks set to expire in 2025, Congressional leaders have signaled that they will prioritize tax reform within the first 100 days of the new Trump administration. As has been reported, ASAE and many other associations are deeply concerned that Congress will look to the tax-exempt sector to help offset the cost of their tax package this year. Influential policy think tanks have called for taxing all tax-exempt organizations across the board, applying the 21% corporate tax rate to all non-donation net revenue.
ASAE is joined by numerous highly respected trade associations, charities, and professional societies in committing financial support to the new coalition’s advocacy and communications efforts. To find out more about the coalition’s efforts and how to join, contact ASAE’s Public Policy team at publicpolicy@asaecenter.org.
NAM Economic Impact Study
While there are valid concerns about how Congress will offset the cost of major tax legislation, many industries are working to ensure that pro-growth tax policies from 2017 are not allowed to expire.
The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) released a report this week detailing the economic consequences of inaction on tax legislation this year. “Pro-growth tax policies from President Trump’s 2017 tax reforms were rocket fuel for manufacturers and made the U.S. economy more competitive on a global scale,” NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons said.

ASAE’s 2025 Legislative Fly-In
With the 119th Congress underway, we invite you to be an advocate for your association community and join ASAE on Tuesday, March 25 – Wednesday, March 26, in Washington, DC, for ASAE’s annual Legislative Fly-In.
This is a pivotal year for associations, particularly with significant tax reform on the legislative agenda due to trillions of dollars in tax breaks created by the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expiring in 2025. Registration includes two days of policy education, advocacy, and networking. The Fly-In is also a terrific opportunity to network with peers from around the country. Learn more here. We hope to see you in Washington, DC.
