ASAE Launches Association Coalition to Responsibly Advance AI Adoption, Safeguard Public Trust

May 9, 2024

WASHINGTON— In response to the rapid evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and its impact on the global business sector, ASAE has launched the Association Coalition for AI (ACAI) to unite association leaders in advancing the understanding, adoption and responsible implementation of AI technologies within the association community.

In addition to positioning associations at the forefront of responsible AI adoption, this pioneering coalition will safeguard associations’ credibility as the most trusted sources for information, resources and best practices that advance industries and professions.

“In an era defined by technological innovation, it is imperative that associations not only adapt but also lead the way in leveraging AI responsibly,” said ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE. “The Association Coalition for AI will serve as a collaborative platform for association leaders to navigate the complexities of AI adoption while upholding ethical standards and advancing our collective missions.”

The objectives of the Association Coalition for AI are three-fold:

  1. United Industry Voice
To create a cohesive, trusted and influential voice for the association community in the development, implementation and regulation of AI technology.
  1. Advocacy
To champion public policies that promote the ethical, responsible and effective use of AI within the association community.
  1. Strategic Direction
To provide guidance and strategic direction to association leaders on the integration and utilization of AI technologies to enhance organizational efficiencies, member engagement and value delivery.

ASAE is currently recruiting association chief executive officers to serve on the coalition. The ACAI will be chaired by Jason Oxman, president and CEO of the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI). Initially, the ACAI will meet quarterly, with a kickoff meeting to take place during ASAE’s 2024 Annual Meeting & Exposition in Cleveland Aug. 10-13, 2024.

“Artificial intelligence is not just a technology industry innovation — it is an all-industry innovation,” Oxman said. “From banking to transportation, health care to education, agriculture to manufacturing, and beyond, all association leaders must understand AI’s impact on their members, employees, and day-to-day operations. This coalition will bring together a diverse cross-section of industry voices to ensure associations can leverage the benefits of AI responsibly and ethically while guarding against unwanted potential risks.”
