ASAE Community Gathers in Unity for 2024 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition in Cleveland

August 20, 2024

WASHINGTON— Nearly 5,100 association professionals, exhibitors, speakers, partners and other industry stakeholders gathered in Cleveland August 10-13 to learn, make connections and demonstrate a unified association community at the 2024 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition.

“This was ASAE’s first-ever Annual Meeting in Cleveland and, by many measures, it qualifies as one of our most successful meetings anywhere,” said ASAE President and CEO Michelle Mason, FASAE, CAE. “Special thanks to our attendees, partners, speakers and our host city of Cleveland for embracing the theme of the conference, ‘In Unity, We Thrive,’ and really exemplifying the power of our community to come together and explore new thinking, address challenges and unlock opportunities that propel our industry forward.”

As the largest annual gathering of the association industry worldwide, the ASAE Annual Meeting serves as a cornerstone for the association community to connect, share insights and shape the future of the profession. With more than 100 education sessions spanning every facet of association management, attendees experienced unparalleled opportunities to learn, network and collaborate with peers from around the world. Attendees also made valuable connections to providers at the sold-out Expo. The buyer-to-seller ratio at the 2024 ASAE Annual Meeting was 63% buyers to 37% sellers.

Mason noted ASAE’s special partnership with Destination Cleveland, which not only included months of preparation to host more than 5,000 ASAE attendees, but also collaboration on ASAE’s Meeting Community Needs initiative and support for the ASAE Research Foundation’s Future Leaders Professional Development Scholarship program. Destination Cleveland was the first destination marketing organization to support ASAE’s newest scholarship, which supports the career advancement of young association professionals.

For ASAE’s 2024 Meeting Community Needs program, ASAE and Destination Cleveland worked with Youth Opportunities Unlimited (Y.O.U.), which serves teens and young adults in Northeast Ohio, to bring 25 students to experience the ASAE Annual Meeting firsthand, giving them behind-the-scenes access to different roles and responsibilities required to make the meeting a success. As ASAE’s identified Meeting Community Needs partner, Y.O.U. received all proceeds collected from Cleveland Experience tours and the 5K Run/Walk that took place during the meeting.

The 2025 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition will be held August 9-12, 2025, in Los Angeles.
