ASAE Announces 2024 Individual Honors for Exceptional Leadership

WASHINGTON— ASAE today announced the recipients of the Individual Honors for Exceptional Leadership, bestowed upon professionals who have demonstrated exemplary support of ASAE, the association community and society at large.

The 2024 honorees include Gabriel Eckert, FASAE, CAE, CEO, Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Georgia and BOMA Georgia Foundation, who is recognized with this year’s Key Award; Stefanie Reeves, FASAE, CAE, Deputy Chief of Public Policy and Engagement, American Psychological Association, who is honored with the Professional Performance Award; and Dr. Lowell M. Aplebaum, EdD, FASAE, CAE, CPF, CEO, Vista Cova, who is receiving the Academy of Leaders Award.

“The Individual Honors Committee had a large number of highly qualified applicants, which made our deliberations especially challenging. I have great pride in knowing we selected the three individuals who have had a significant impact on ASAE and the entire association management industry,” said Hannes Combest, FASAE, CAE, Partner, Governance Directions LLC, and 2024 Chair of the ASAE Individual Honors Committee.

The Key Award is presented to chief staff executives of associations who demonstrate exceptional qualities of leadership and a deep commitment to voluntary membership organizations. Gabriel Eckert, FASAE, CAE, is the79th recipient of this award. In addition to his BOMA Georgia role, Eckert is an internationally recognized speaker, author, consultant and executive coach, and is a past chair of ASAE’s Certified Association Executive (CAE) Commission and a past chair of the Georgia Society of Association Executives Foundation.

The Professional Performance Award recognizes important contributions made by association executives who are at the top level in their organizations but do not serve in the role of CEO. Stefanie Reeves, FASAE, CAE, is the 50th recipient of this award. Beyond her role at APA, Reeves is a former ASAE Board member, an alumna of ASAE’s Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP) and a former board member of the Washington Government Relations Group.

The Academy of Leaders Award is given to consultants or industry partners who have demonstrated exemplary support of ASAE and the entire association community. Lowell Aplebaum, EdD, FASAE, CAE, is the 37th recipient of the award. As the founder of Vista Cova, Aplebaum works closely with hundreds of organizations, guiding leaders, members and staff through facilitation, keynoting and more. Aplebaum is an IAF Certified Professional Facilitator and has achieved his Doctorate of Education in Leadership.
