WASHINGTON — ASAE Board Chairman Susan K. Neely, CAE, president and CEO of the American Beverage Association, has appointed Paul Pomerantz, CAE, CEO of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, to chair ASAE’s 2014-2015 Power of A Oversight Committee. Pomerantz succeeds Tom Kuhn, CAE, president of the Edison Electric Institute, in this volunteer leadership role.

Earlier this year, Pomerantz completed a term as chairman of the Power of A Awards Judging Committee. In this volunteer position, he oversaw the judging of roughly 100 entries and the selection of six Summit Award winners, 23 Power of A Gold Award winners and 22 Power of A Silver Award winners. ASAE will celebrate this year’s award winners at the Summit Awards Dinner October 1, at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC.

As chairman of the Power of A Oversight Committee, Paul will look for continued opportunities to enhance the profile of ASAE’s Power of A program.

“Paul is a tremendous ambassador for ASAE’s Power of A program and really understands the importance of elevating awareness and understanding of associations as problem solvers in our global society,” Neely said. “Associations have great stories to tell about the work they do, and The Power of A is the vehicle ASAE created to enable policymakers and the greater community to hear them. The ASAE Board would like to thank Tom Kuhn for his time and passion for The Power of A, and we look forward to Paul’s leadership in continuing to build momentum for this important campaign.”
